2nd NEPC Summer School 2009 was held in Croatia from 13 to 17 July 2009 on the subject Curriculum Policies: Making Education Respond to Society and the Labor Market organized by Network of Education Policy Centers and supported by Open Society Institute – Education Support Program.

 

 

 

The school consisted of  of a Core Course of 2,5 days, taught by the team of lecturers, and of 4 elective module courses (2 per day) on specific aspects of curriculum policies.

The program included lectures, discussions, workshops, tutorial, group work, debates as well as real examples on curriculum design delivered by leading authorities in curriculum policies.

Summer School participants were from Malawi, Zambia,  Romania, UK, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, Azerbaijan, USA and the core topics were:


• Curriculum and political ideology
• Curriculum and Knowledge
• Linkages between curriculum and economy
• Who decides what to teach? (Participation and decision making)
• Curriculum raising the big issues (does curriculum articulate society’s problems?)
• Curriculum frameworks and other curriculum documents
